Our Mission

in the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other chemicals proven to be hazardous to

Preventing Destructive Behavior and Promoting
Healthy Lifestyles

Free printed information on alcohol and drug use.

Refers individuals identified as substance abusers to
various agencies or facilities.

Video lending library available to professionals.

Millennium
Kids Club
|
The Millennium Kids Club is a primary
alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse prevention and violence program sponsored by the Prevention
Services Department as part of a partnership with the Baton Rouge Housing Authority. The
Program operates in four Housing Authority apartment complexes in the Baton Rouge
community. The Millennium Kids Club program utilizes concepts of educational enhancement,
character development training, and enriching social interaction activities to focus on
prevention.

Strengthening
Families
Program
|
O'Brien House has launched the Community Family Club,
a family- focused program designed to strengthen the primary family unit using life skills
training, parenting skill sessions, and family activities. The program uses the design and
concepts of the nationally acclaimed, science-based "Strengthening Families
Program" authored by Dr. Karol Kumpfer.
The program is open to families residing in
or around
one of four
designated Housing Authority developments. |

Conducts, sponsors, and collaborates on community
workshops, seminars, education fairs, and forums on various subjects relating to alcohol,
tobacco, and other drugs, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, family and
community health, etc.
Our three major educational community events
include: Crossroads Conference, Single Mothers Conference, and I'm A
Good Kid, Too! Youth Festival. |
